Well hi! My name is Danielle and I'm a red head with way too many freckles to count. I reside in sunny Southern California and I'm allergic to Oranges.
When I was 14, my home town was holding a model/talent scouting event called 'Pro Scout' in our Convention Center, so my friends and I decided to go for fun, just to see what would happen. The place was filled with teenage girls, and most of us were weary of the whole thing because being a model just seemed so unreachable to all of us, and we weren't sure if it was a scam or not. When they started going through and saying goodbye to the girls they weren't interested in, only a handful of us were left, and since we were the chosen few, we were now presented in front of 35 well known acting and modeling agents from around the Country. Fast forward to the end of the event with all the agencies, I was the second most wanted model out of 1,000, with a total of 9 agents wanting to represent me. I couldn't believe it! Since then I’ve been working non stop, constantly attending castings/auditions, doing shoots and loving every second of my job!
The best thing about Modeling is that I’ve met so many interesting and inspiring people, and seen so many amazing places that I never dreamed I would see! There is so much talent and creativity in this industry, and to be surrounded by awesome humans on a daily basis is pretty incredible! The worst thing about my job is the unfortunate fact that some of the members of my family don't fully support this sort of lifestyle. But, I'm living my dream so I guess I just have to keep trying to tell them that!
Hmm…this is tough for me, because generally I always have a great time!! But, there was this one shoot that my friend and I did in a lumberyard that was simply unforgettable. It was rainy and overcast, fog everywhere. I was wearing a long flowy skirt and a bralette, which had a dreamy vibe to it. The whole thing looked like something out of a fairytale.
Haha! No, I feel like every model, to some degree, enjoys seeing themselves photographed. That's why this is my job! I love being in front of the camera, always have! You should see my childhood photos! ALWAYS posing.
When you have a great time shooting it really shows in photos, and for me the best way to have a great shoot is HAVE FUN. Talk to each other. Give each other ideas. Don’t be afraid to look stupid because hey, its just one digital file right?! Something might look weird or awkward in person, but could come out amazing on camera. So, always try new things and don’t be afraid to be weird. Oh, and always have pizza afterwards, my one unbreakable rule. ;)
I like when photographers give me direction. Sometimes I don't know when my face is in the right lighting, or my hand looks weird. So don't be shy, tell me when you want something different so that we can get the shot! Also, like I said before, just have fun! Don't over think it.
